The Street Kids Transformation Project (SKIT Project) is one of Street Mentors Network’s core child protection programmes focused on supporting street-connected children in Nigeria. Through this project, we identify children living or working on the streets and provide pathways to safety, dignity, and long-term transformation.
The SKIT Project responds to the real needs of vulnerable children through rescue support, shelter, education reintegration, mentorship, life skills, psychosocial care, and family-based reintegration where possible. We believe that no child should be defined by the streets or denied the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
Our approach is personal and practical. We do not only respond to immediate needs; we also walk with each child on the journey toward stability and hope. By working with caregivers, schools, communities, and child protection stakeholders, the project helps children move from survival mode into structured environments where they can begin to rebuild their lives.
The SKIT Project reflects our commitment to child protection, rehabilitation, and reintegration for vulnerable children in Akwa Ibom State and beyond.

The Street Sport Initiative uses football as a tool for mentorship, engagement, and positive transformation among street-connected boys and at-risk young people. At Street Mentors Network, we understand that sport can open doors, build trust, and create a sense of belonging for children who are often overlooked.
Through regular football sessions, mentorship activities, and relationship-building, this initiative creates a safe and structured space where boys can connect, learn discipline, build teamwork, and receive guidance. Football becomes more than a game; it becomes an entry point for child support, character development, and social reintegration.
The programme also helps us identify deeper needs among participants, including education support, shelter needs, counselling, and referrals for further care. By meeting young people in a way that feels natural and engaging, we are able to inspire change while building confidence and hope.
The Sport Initiative is part of our wider effort to support street-connected children in Nigeria through creative, practical, and youth-friendly solutions that promote protection, personal growth, and opportunity.

The Empower Girls Now Project is a girls’ empowerment initiative by Street Mentors Network created to support vulnerable girls, adolescent girls, and teenage mothers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to build better futures.
This project focuses on life skills training, leadership development, girls’ rights awareness, safeguarding education, menstrual hygiene, mentorship, vocational support, and education reintegration. We work to ensure that girls are not only protected from harm, but also equipped to make informed decisions and pursue their goals with confidence.
Many girls face barriers such as poverty, exclusion, low self-esteem, school dropout, abuse, and limited access to opportunity. Empower Girls Now responds to these challenges with practical support and safe learning spaces where girls can grow, speak up, and discover their potential.
At its heart, this project is about raising a generation of girls who are informed, empowered, and supported to thrive. Through partnerships with schools, communities, and stakeholders, the project advances our mission of girls’ empowerment in Nigeria and promotes long-term change for vulnerable girls.

Children are not witches advocacy by SMN
The PACT Campaign — Prevent Abuse of Children Today — is our advocacy platform for raising awareness and mobilising action against child abuse, neglect, exploitation, trafficking, and harmful practices affecting children.
This campaign exists because many children continue to face violence in homes, schools, communities, and informal spaces, often without protection or a voice. Through community outreach, public sensitisation, school engagement, media advocacy, and stakeholder conversations, the PACT Campaign promotes safer environments for children and stronger community responsibility.
A major focus of the campaign is speaking out against harmful beliefs and practices such as child witchcraft branding, while also encouraging child safeguarding, early reporting, and community-based prevention. We believe advocacy must be both bold and practical, which is why the campaign connects awareness with action.
By reaching families, young people, schools, faith communities, and the public, the PACT Campaign strengthens our wider child protection mission and helps build a culture where children are respected, protected, and given the opportunity to thrive.
Approach
We use child-centered, community-based models, prioritizing the most at-risk youth and partnering with schools, churches, agencies, and local volunteers.
